We can't answer ahead of time every question that you might come up with, but there are some questions that are consistent for those considering a Workshop or a Tour with us. Any other questions you might have, please feel free to contact us, either via email or phone, and we'll be glad to help you out!
1) What is the difference between a Tour and a Workshop?
Some nature photography companies use the terms interchangeably. Other companies make a distinction between the two, with a Workshop being geared toward photographic instruction during the workshop, versus a Tour being just the tour leader taking you to the photographic opportunities and then you being on your own in terms of your photography. Rest assured that with NaturePhotoTours.com ALL of our outings are field Workshops, where our leaders are there to lend the benefit of their many years of photographic experience. Whether you're an absolute beginner, or an advanced amateur, our leaders will do all they can to ensure that your trip with us is a sensory experience in terms of the nature you'll encounter, a social experience with great camaraderie, and a photographic learning experience.
2) Is there a minimum skill level necessary to go on a trip with NaturePhotoTours.com?
All skill levels of photography are welcome on our trips, and if you're an absolute beginner you should have no qualms whatsoever about joining us. Our leaders welcome the opportunity to help new photographers discover the joys of nature photography, and also enjoy the challenges of helping more advanced photographers fine tune their photographic skills.
3) Is there a minimum level of participants necessary for a trip? For instance you advertise a maximum of 8 participants for one trip, what if you only get 4 people who sign up?
The reality of this business is that while a trip might be full three or four years in a row, the next year there might only be a few people to sign up. Optimally, we try for 6 to 8 people on our trips if there is only one leader, and for 10 or more on a trip we always add an assistant, so there is still an excellent ratio of leaders to lend assistance to participants.
While we reserve the right to cancel any trip (See Terms and Conditions), we do not generally cancel trips for not having a minimum number of participants, and unlike some other companies, in those instances where there are only a few participants we do NOT charge an additional low participant supplement.
4) If a workshop is full, can I get on a Waiting List?
Yes, if a workshop is full, you can add your name to the Waiting List, and there is no deposit required to do so. Waiting List slots are awarded on a first come, first served basis. If there is a cancellation, we will notify you by phone and email, although you would be under no obligation to accept the newly available slot.
5) Can I get a lodging with a single room?
Please note that NOT ALL of our trip prices include lodging (and/or meals and transportation) although some trips do include all of those. On those trips that do include lodging, you certainly may get a single room, either as a preference or if we are unable to find you a suitable roommate. In those instances you will be charged a single room supplement. The supplement would be in addition to the quoted fee for the trip.
6) What about changes in trip leaders or trip dates?
We always strive to maintain our advertised trip leaders and dates, however our trips are advertised far in advance and sometimes due to unforeseen factors either a change in trip dates, or a change in trip leader is necessary. NaturePhotoTours.com reserves the right to change the leader on any trip. Anyone choosing to cancel as a result, will be subject to our normal cancellation policies. (See Terms and Conditions)
7) Do you offer any discounts?
We offer:
- a 5% discount to spouses or couples signing up together for the same trip.
- a 5% discount or $100 (whichever is greater) to clients who have previously taken a trip with us.
8) Do you offer any custom Tours or Workshops?
We will gladly try to accommodate any requests you might have for a custom tour or workshop, or a private instructor, for family groups, camera club outings, etc..
9) What about inclement weather during a trip?
Unfortunately, hand in hand with nature's beauty is the vagaries of the weather, and if there is one drawback to booking a photography workshop or tour, this is it. In the event of inclement weather during the trip, every effort will be made to have indoor presentations, or possibly redirect to other shooting areas, but there are no refunds for inclement weather during a trip. (See Terms and Conditions)
